correction du dst the little red riding hood

This drawing made by Slane is designed to warn the viewers of the dangers of facebook friends. Let’s try to lift the veil upon his strategy in order to see if the elements are relevently chosen. I’ll start with the little red riding hood to make out the images attached to this character. It’ll lead me to focus on the wolf to confirm the effect on the viewers. I’ll finish with the forest to see if this drawing can reach its goal .

At that moment I will be able to give my opinion on the efficiency of this awareness campaign poster.

I)The embodiement of innocence

As the warning message is addressed to young children ,we’ll concentrate on this choice.

I1 The symbol of innocence

Now that we know why the conceiver has chosen to present a little girl we can highlight the use of the little red riding hood.

I2 The image carried by this tale

As we have seen that the drawer uses our klnowledge to give us the end without noticing it, it’s time to underline how he reinforces the impression of a lurking danger.

II Playing with our unconscious fear

Like sharks in the ocean, wolves provoke an uncontrollable repulsion .

II1 The embodiement of pitiless danger.

Thus we can assess that the conceiver plays with our unconscious images to spread his message .But how does he link the wolf with facebook.

II2 The personification of this wild animal.

Like La Fontaine, Slane uses the wild animal to warn the viewer. From that moment on we know exactly what dangers he speaks about but why linking a forest to such developped countries.

III) The web, the new forest.

Slane carries on using images to convey his warning.

III 1)The forest, a dark and scary place.

The fear and loss of control is thus amplified by the forest because inhabitants of cities don’t feel safe in this unknown environment.

III 2) an inpenetrable forest.

Slanes decides to draw a dense foliage to make us realize that even if we can’t see or touch it the danger exists.

III 3) virtual friend or potential foe.

The drawer uses our most ancient and deepest fear and images to present this pretendingly safe new technological environment as the place of every danger.

Now we can assess that this awareness campaign drawing must have reached its goal because each element plays with our imagination and with our unconscious fears to put forward a real danger. The combination is also relevent because it reinforces the feeling of an invisible danger even if the drawing could have been more explicit thus more efficient.
